Vietnam (French Indo-China) is located to Southern China. It not only contains a large population of overseas Chinese but is also a critical base for the Revolutionary Party due to its favorable location. Sun Yat-sen visited Vietnam six times during the late Ching Dynasty to prepare for revolution and led at least four movements in Fangcheng, Zhen Nan Guan, Qinzhou, and Hekou. He carried out his planning, assembly of forces, and establishment of organization in Vietnam. Furthermore, Sun Yat-Sen utilized the interest of the French Indo-China Authority, the French legation of Japan, and the Republic and Colonial politicians in the Chinese revolution to obtain partial support from the French and start the revolution. Therefore, this paper will employ archives from the KMT, the annals of Sun Yat-Sen, and collections, as well as refer to publications such as overseas Chinese newspapers to recreate the status of the locally developed organization by the Chinese United League and their organizational activities. Lastly, the circumstances of the development of Sun Yat-Sen’s revolutionary activities in Vietnam and the internal and external causes over the process of its development will be summarized.
