　　本文從當代國家發展的趨勢來說明孫中山思想的時代意義。1990年代初期社會主義陣營的瓦解曾經使得「歷史終結」論盛行一時，認為以美國為代表的自由民主加市場經濟的體制，已經是人類社會制度安排的最終形態，國家發展方向的共同歸趨。但是，21世紀以來，911恐怖攻擊事件、金融海嘯、英國脫歐、和川普當選美國總統等等現象，則掀起了「文明衝突」的硝煙和反全球化的風潮。同時，中國大陸的崛起使得「中國模式」的探討受到重視。如何跨越「文明衝突」的鴻溝，同時擺脫「歷史終結」的宿命，是當代國家發展研究上的重大議題。
　　從國家發展比較研究的視角切入，當代國家發展的趨勢告訴我們，社會主義陣營瓦解意味著教條馬列主義不可行，金融海嘯、英國脫歐、和川普當選美國總統則告訴我們，美國式資本主義和既有的自由民主體制存在著本質上的矛盾和缺失。由此而生的國家、族群、和世代之間的衝突對立，將使得人類社會變遷進入顛仆動亂的困境。在此情況下，嘗試融和歐美現代性和中國傳統文化，能夠提出跨越時空的獨特見解，並依中國國情提出建設方案的孫中山思想，不僅可以為海峽兩岸的發展提供具有時代意義的真知灼見，也可以為當代之國家發展指陳價值位序、制度安排、和政策路線的大方向。

　　This article illuminates the contemporary significance of Sun Yat-sen’s thought in terms of the trend of contemporary national development. The collapse of the socialist camp in the early 1990s made the thesis of “the end of history” prevailing for quite a while. This thesis argues that liberal democracy and market economy constitute the final form of institutional arrangement of human society and the common end of national development. However, the happenings of the September 11 attacks, the global financial crisis, Brexit, and Donald Trump elected as the president of the United States since the 21st century set off the fire of “the clash of civilizations” and the trend of anti-globalization. In the meantime, the rise of Mainland China has led the study of “China model” to be taken seriously. How to across the chasm of “the clash of civilization” and get out of the fate of “the end of history” are the major issues of contemporary national development.
　　In the perspective of comparative studies of national development, the collapse of socialist camp implies that dogmatic Marxism-Leninism is not feasible. The global financial crisis, Brexit, and Donald Trump elected as the president of the United States tell us that American capitalism and existent liberal democracy have essential contradictions and deficiencies. The conflicts between nations, groups, and generations derived by these contradictions and deficiencies will lead the human society into the plight of unrest. In this situation, Sun Yat-sens’s thought, which tries to integrate Western modernity and Chinese traditional culture, offer unique opinions across time and space, and put forward the program of national construction according to the conditions of China, will be able to offer insights with contemporary significance for the developments of the two sides of the Strait. In addition, Sun Yat-sen’s thought will also be able to point out the directions of value order, institutional arrangement, and policy line for contemporary national development.
