By what address did you sent it?October is now over, how is the result of the syndicate meet-ing? As up to this time there is no definite news from you, I fear,in spite of your hard work for our cause, the New York project mighthave been failed through. Have you some other way to obtain moneyfor us? We are not in need of so large a sum as we first proposedin your house, for many of the preparatory works have been donesince my returning here. I think from one tenth to one fifth of theoriginal amount would be enough to carry out the whole businessto a successful end, say half million dollars in gold will just be aboutthe amount we need at the present moment. A small sum musthave been easier and quicker to raise than a big one, wouldn't youthink so? If you can get this sum within three months from date,it will be just in time for our purpose. After that we will not wait, but take independent measure to do what we can by any means. In case we could succeed in gaining a permanent footing beforeyou conclude any loan, then the condition of the same must beentirely modified.
